Canada is the most extensive country of America and only Russia overcomes it by world scale. Numerous islands belong to Canada, in addition to vast, the territory is much changed in its sceneries, where they emphasize principally the high peaks of the Rocky Mountains on the West, the tundras of the North and the prairies in the center. Towards the South there is an immense region of Forests; from them there comes almost half of the worlds production of paper. Canada is one of the principal producers of Hydroelectric energy.
The country is divided in ten provinces: Alberta, Columbia Britain, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Island of Prince Edwards, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and Labrador; and two territories (Territories of the Northwest and the Territory of the Yukón). In 1999 there was constituted third territory broken off from the Territories of the Northwest, called Nunavut. The federal capital is Ottawa.
The climate is extremely varied, from moderated Arctic cold, although generally described as a summer climate moderated width long cold winter. External temperatures registered in the capital:-37 ºC (minimum), 39 ºC (maximum).
The racial and ethnic configuration of the Canadian people is very assorted. Close to 34% of the population is formed by people of British origin; the inhabitants of French origin uphold 28% of the population. The French speaking Canadians mantain there language, culture and traditions, and the federal government follow a national bilingual and multicultural politics. The rest of the population consists of the people of other origins like German, Italian, Ukrainian, Dutch, Scandinavian, Polish, Hungarian, Greek and indigenous native, those who are officially so called ' the first nation ', which are equivalent to 2% of the entire population of Canada and especially belong to the linguistic group called algonquinese; other linguistic representative groups are the iroqueses, the salish, the athabascos and the (Eskimo) inuit.
Toronto is the financial capital of Canada, it is the biggest city of the country and its inhabitants form a curious union of almost all the European cultures. In Toronto is the highest tower of America that measures "only" 533 meters and where it is possible to have dinner in the heights. The center of the city is of Victorian style, the Town hall and the House Hillock are two places that you must visit.
The city of the county of Île-de-Montreal, placed to the south of the province of Quebec (Canada) in the Île-de-Montreal (island of Montreal), which is in the confluence of the rivers St Lawrence and Ottawa. It is a cosmopolitan city which population has for the most part French as the mother tongue. Its scenery is flat although it has some dispersed mountains between which there is included the Royal mount (233 m), placed in the center of the city. The surrounding area is densely urbanized. The business center is between the river St Lawrence and the Royal mount. In the center of the city, around the René Lévesque boulevard , there are office buildings located all around , and in the Santa Catalina street, there are big establishments commercial such as TV and radio.
