Curious information about Japan

* PUNCTUALITY: In comparison to us the Latin Americans and some other western cultures, the Japanese are very puntual. They plan everything with much anticipation and they always arrive to an appointment or meeting a little earlier than the agreed time. Not only are they puntual to their appointments, everything in Japan is governed by the punctuality: the arrival of the buses, the arrival of the subway, the slottimes in the offices, etc.. To arrive late to an appointment with a Japanese person can turn out to be offensive.

* IN CHRISTMAS: December is the most colorful month in all Japanese business establishments. Red and green decorate the inside and outside of thousands and thousands of supermarkets and gigantic stores. There´re the colors of the Christmas, which is a really curious thing about this country because almost nobody believes in Christ. Japan only has a 1.2 per cent of Christians.

* THE LONGEVITY: Japan is the country with the longest expectations of life in the world. With an average age of 80 years. To the date, it´s been estimated that Japan has more than 18,000 inhabitants that have reached or passed tha age of 100 years. * DISNEY JAPAN. The thematic park most visited in the world is Tokyo´s Disneyland. Since its inauguration in 1983, more than 200 million visitors have crossed its doors. Its very curious if we bear in mind that the population of this country is estimated in more or less 126 million inhabitants.

* NUCLEAR STATION: The biggest nuclear station in the world is in Japan. We´re talking about the Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Station, located in the north part of the coast of Honshu island. It has a potency of 8,212 MW (Megawatts). It started operating in July, 1997 to supply electrical energy to the Tokyo Electric Power Company.

* FREE MANGA COMICS: If you are a fan of Manga, and you don´t have a lot of money but your in Japan, this is the perfect combination for you to go to the subway of Tokyo and find comics all over.

* THE SALT: The most useful ingredient in the kitchen, but that in many Latin-American countries is a sign of bad luck,bu in Japan it´s completely the opposite. Yes, that´s right. In Japan it is a sign of good luck. The business establishments put them very discreetly in the door entries. In sumo competitions rivals throw salt on the ring to purify it and to invoke good luck. In the funerals, at the entry, its accustomed to lightly bath the visitors with salt to purify them.
