Information about Switzerland

For many, Switzerland is synonymous to the International Red Cross. That means " neutrality "; but Switzerland is not only that, it´s also been considered to be one of the nations with the best quality of living in the planet. It´s also one of the safest places to live in. Keep in mind these facts at the time of choosing where to study. Other elements that characterize this country is its high technology, its clocks and knives, the beauty of its Alpine sceneries and cultural diversity. Few nations attract so many numbers of visitors and tourists every day like Switzerland, becaus this, it is obvious that for an international student the best carrer to study in this country is undoubtedly, Hotel trading and Tourism. Thanks to its multicultural character because of its historical influence by its neighbors, it is possible to learn German, French and Italian. Nevertheless, the language of instruction in its careers for the foreign students is English.

GEOGRAPHY

Switzerland occupies the central region of the Alps, and it this surrounded by France, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, and Italy. The territory forms a set of average mountains. In Oberland Bernes the rural mountains rise up with numerous glaciers. Between Mont Blanc, and the massif of Aare you can locate the canton of Valais, which is relies on the north flank of the mountain range (Monte Cervino and Monte Rosa). With the Tesino, Switzerland is in posetion possession of the south slope of the Alps, which connect with the flat rims of the Po. The Swiss Jura contains the oriental flanges of the massif, which forms the border with France. The region of the hills, also known as the " Swiss plateau ", occupies a section between July and the Alps; it has 600m of altitude, covers a third of the territory and occupies most of the population in its territory and occupies more than half of the population. The highest peak in Switzerland is the Defourspitze peak , placed in the "Mont Rosa", and its shared with Italy; other summits are: Dom, the Wisshorn, the Matterhorn, the Big Combin and the Finsteraarhorn. On the Italian border you can find paths of the Simpleton, San Gotardo and San Bernardo.

CLIMATE

It presents sensitivity in regional areas and localities, due to the altitude and the proceeding air masses from other places of Europe, although the average temperatures is generally low; of 15ºC.

ZURICH

Zurich is perhaps the most important city of Switzerland. It is not a very big city but it is surprisingly cosmopolitan, although it´s especially an known as the city of the bankers and stockbrokers. It is crossed by the river of Limmat, which faces the narrow pedestrian alleys of the medieval quarters, next to the commercial and business district, which also contains interesting places to visit. In the same lake the trips up the bank spread from the center of Zúrich and find themselves up the pathway.
